Obituary of Kenneth G. Root

Kenneth G. Root, age 75, of Mansfield, PA, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. He was born July 26, 1940 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of George and Gertrude (Allen) Root. Kenneth was married to Rose Marie "Rosie" (Sherman) Root. He was employed at Ward Manufacturing in Blossburg before his retirement. Kenneth was a member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He served as a military policeman in the Army. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Rosie; 2 step-sons, Linden (Roxie) McCauley of Blossburg, PA and Joe (Cora) Miles of Mansfield, PA; a step-daughter, Julie (Kevin) Welch of Marion, OH; a brother, David Root of Wellsboro, PA; 2 nieces, Rachel Burton and Laurie (Larry) Keener; a nephew, Andrew (Stepanie) Walters; 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Root, a step-son, Janford McCauley, and a sister, Shirla Walters. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Monday, November 2, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Delbert Howard and Rev. Chuck Baldwin officiating.
